Aboriginal Art is associated with the landscape of Australia’s outback and the culture of its indigenous people. Prior to the 1970s, most indigenous art was collected by anthropologists and much of the art was not committed to canvas, but drawn in the sand and painted on the body. Many of the works reflect the landscape and its stories and the diversity of the representation is striking. The colours can be at times rich and exuberant, and at others muted and monochromatic. Wetpaint Gallery is hosting this exciting exhibition of Aboriginal Art in association with Nadia Phillips Aboriginal Art. All the paintings in this exhibition are ethically sourced from the artist and community. Further details to follow.
