‘Spirit Faces’ by Anita Ford (1948-2018)
Online and at Wetpaint Gallery Chalford, Wed-Sat 10.00-16.00 until 19 December 2020
Anita Ford was a remarkable artist who worked constantly throughout her long career and completed hundreds of corporate and private commissions and exhibited extensively, both in the UK and abroad.
‘Spirit Faces’ was her largest work and comprised 60 drawings, created to a formula using papier mâché, liquid graphite and pencil. ‘Spirit Faces’ is an extraordinarily powerful composition that portrays a wealth of human emotions, moods, anxieties and behaviours. Whether the ‘Spirit Faces’ are intended to be masks, facets of our individual personalities or Anita’s own personal spirit guides, we will never know. They were certainly her regular companions towards the end of her life.
This exhibition includes a number of additional drawings, paperworks and sculptures from the same period in which she explored and shared some of her deepest fears and feelings.Read more See all works Watch video
