Melvyn Evans

Melvyn Evans studied at Carmarthen Art College and Exeter College of Art and Design where he completed his degree in illustration. After his degree Melvyn studied at Goldsmiths College London for a year, and took up drawing classes at the Royal College of Art under the tuition of Bryan Kneale RA. Melvyn Evans has been a professional artist, printmaker and illustrator since 1992.

Melvyn Evan's work explores the connections between the aural traditions, allegory and folklore of the British landscape. Andrew is fascinated by this sense of prehistory, the way it surfaces in old place names and early monuments offering comment on the mysteries of our lives, our existence and traditions. Melvyn Evans's inspiration is taken from the landscape but he is also interested in, and concerned with the point at which the figurative meets the abstract.

Melvyn Evans  has exhibited his work widely throughout the UK including the National Open Art Exhibition, Royal College of Art, the London (2013), RA Summer Show (2014), Works on Paper, Science Museum London (2014), National Original Print Exhibition, Bankside Gallery, London (2015), and the Objects & Editions, St Jude's, Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2016).
