Although I have always enjoyed “making”, it wasn’t until my late 40’s whilst working as a painter and decorator that I decided to apply for a place on the Access to Higher Education in Art and Design at Stroud Art College. Whilst enjoying painting and drawing my main interest was making; particularly creating things of interest from every day materials and having dabbled with cardboard, string and even drawing pins, I recently began to experiment with papier maché.
[ezcol_4fifth_end]The vessels I make are for interior use, both useful and decorative. As a gardener, my latest work is inspired by garden plants and also textures in nature observed when walking. The sculptures are tactile, robust and often surprisingly light.
