‘Red, White and Blue’ (50 Cherries, 50 States) by John D Edwards is a mixed media painting on canvas, completed in 2021.
“The painting before this is another large painting of a cluster of cherries on the horizon and for some reason they reminded me of the American Flag probably because of their colours and I was being surrounded by coverage of the new president.
Out of curiosity I counted the cherries and discovered there were exactly 50 cherries, so I had to call it “Red, White and Blue, (50 cherries, 50 states)”.
